What is your pricing?
Currently, both Shu and Nicholas charge by piece depends on the size and complexity. Send them the design you like, size and placement you want and they will get back to you with a quote.
What is flash? Freehand? And custom?
Flash is pre-made designs for you to choose from. This is a great way to get the most original and signature designs from the artists you like.
Freehand is when instead of using a pre-made stencil, the artist draws on your skin directly. This method is highly flexible and can match the shape of your body and fill in gaps easily.
Custom is when you give the artist your requirements and let the artist create a new design just for you. This is especially good for tattoos with sentimental values.
What do I need to prepare for a tattoo?
Days before the appointment, you can start moisturizing the tattoo location, this will give us a better surface to work with.
The day before, make sure to get enough rest and avoid alcohol (it would increase the chance of bleeding).
On the day of the appointment, be sure to eat before and stay hydrated. It would feel awful and it’s also dangerous to get tattooed with an empty stomach! If it’s a long session, you can also bring food to eat during the breaks.
Besides, dress comfortably with clothing that can reveal the tattoo location easily.
And, please don’t forget to bring your photo ID and cash for the payment.
Can I bring guests?
Depends on the number of artists working that day, we may be able to allow one guest, or may not be able to. Please reach out to your artist to confirm it before you do so.
If there is special need, please let us know and we will make sure to accommodate.
Do you use numbing products?
Yes, we are open to using numbing products, and we provide good quality numbing spray (Numb520 with 5% Lidocaine) for free during the tattoo process.
Please do not use any numbing product without informing your artists. We have instructions on how you can use them and we only use certain brands we have experience with.
If you think numbing before the session is needed, please reach out to your artists for instructions.
How should I take care of my tattoo?
Typically, it takes about 3-4 weeks for a tattoo to basically heal.
The two main factors that influence tattoo healing are SPF protection and moisturizing. And there are different ways to take care of your tattoo while it’s healing and after it’s healed.
1. If you use a derm shield, keep it on for 2-3 days (can be a couple days longer if you feel ok, and shorter if the derm shield causes irritation). Take it off in the shower with water running on it, gently stretch it down from the bottom (like a command strip).
If you are using a cling wrap, take it off at the end of the day.
Avoid alcohol and working out too much in the first couple days to reduce the fluid from the tattoo.
2. During the 3-4 weeks of healing, as soon as you take the derm shield or cling wrap off, start taking care of your tattoo with the routine below:
For twice a day: 1) Wash your tattoo with an unscented antibacterial soap. 2) Pat it dry with clean paper towels. 3) Apply a thin layer of lotion (noted below)
For the lotion to use while healing, we recommend Bepanthen Nappy Care Ointment and Hustle Butter. Check the ingredients for what’s the best for you. We do not recommend Aquaphor as it’s too thick and can be bad for the healing. If you do not wish to make any purchases, just an unscented, alcohol-free water based lotion would work better than Aquaphor.
Additionally, always wear clothes to cover the tattoo area to protect it from the sun. Make sure your clothing is comfy and doesn’t cause a lot friction on the tattoo (e.g. boots are not recommended after ankle tattoo).
Avoid bath or swimming or any kind of soaking in water for at least the first two weeks of the tattoo as it would cause infection.
You will see the scabbing process during this period. Let the scabs peel off naturally and do not scratch them, as it would cause the tattoo to heal unevenly.
3. After 3-4 weeks, when the tattoo location feels smooth and flat like other areas of your skin, you could use regular lotion and sunscreens for your tattoo. And always use them!
However, still be gentle with your freshly healed skin as the full healing takes a longer period of time.
4. Did you know? A well-lit healed picture of your tattoo would make your artist’s day!
